Laghetto EUR and Weekend Brunch

By Karolina Terchiieva

EUR is one of the most modern areas in Rome, which contrasts greatly with the ancient city center. Here, you will find a few skyscrapers, one of the newest shopping centers EUROMA 2, and cute coffee shops.

In the middle of EUR you will find a lake surrounded by a little park – a perfect place to escape touristic city center. Coming here with kids is an excellent idea — especially on the weekends, as near the playground you will find “FUN CITY,” an area with various activities for kids of different ages, from toddler through teen. There are trampolines, ball pits, a swimming pool, inflatables, electric cars, and play areas for babies. The price for the entrance is 5 Euro for a child and free for the accompanying adults. However, certain activities there require an extra payment that varies from 2 to 5 Euro for each.  The playground itself is already a lot of fun for most kids, with slides, swings, and more. Here you will meet many international families, which is great as you get to socialize in English and meet new people.

Visiting the lake

What my son loves the most about the lake are the ducks and the birds there. If you bring a bit of bread, all of the birds of the area will come to you. And from my experience, nothing makes toddlers happier than chasing birds!

By the lake you will also find an American-style coffee shop, Bakery House, where on the weekends you will find a Brunch menu with classics like Eggs Benedict, pancakes, and scrambled eggs. All the dishes are served with complimentary orange juice. It is recommend to book a table in advance as it fills up quickly each morning. This bakery serves amazing coffee and, unlike most Italian bars and cafes, you can have coffee to go in a cute cup.

Overall this is a great way to spend your weekend away from the crowded city — a relaxing place a bit closer to nature.
