If you plan on spending a longer time in Italy to really take your time exploring the fabulous cities, this two-week itinerary is perfect for you. Laura, the mom behind Our Next Adventure, discusses the relative affordability of a two-week vacation in Italy,. She says it is about as costly as a week in an American city like New York or San Francisco. This itinerary isn’t Rome-centered, as the family started their travels in the city of Milan. But they do spend a decent amount of time in Rome seeing all the ancient sites and ruins. They visited attractions like the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. They also spent time at Villa Borghese, an area with lush grounds and a lake where you can rent a boat. See all of Laura’s Italy suggestions here.
