Lisbon is the capital of Portugal. It is a city full of culture and history – from ancient ruins to engaging museums to beautiful scenery. In Portuguese culture, they hold the family in high regard so it’s unsurprising that Lisbon is a wonderful city to visit on a family vacation, as there are many kid-friendly things to see and do. Children of all ages will love attractions like the Lisbon Zoo,  the Lisbon Aquarium, the Lisbon Science Museum (aka the Pavilion of Knowledge), and the Electricity Museum, which features interactive exhibits. And everyone in the whole family will enjoy trips to the National Tile Museum and Castelo de Saõ Jorge (St. George’s Castle), as well as a ride on the classic Tram 28. If the weather is nice, maybe embark on a day trip to the beautiful Lisbon suburb of Belem, located along the Tragus River. Belem is home to gorgeous architecture including the Jeronimos Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site. When it’s time for a snack, stop by Pasteis de Belem for their world-famous custard tarts. Then maybe take a ride on one of Lisbon’s Cable Cars to enjoy lovely views of the Tragus River and its surrounding landscapes.
