The Ministry of Tourism has as its mission to guarantee a sustained development of the Andorran tourism sector and to promote the Principality as a quality tourist destination throughout the year. Its actions are complemented and coordinated with Andorra Turisme SAU, created in 2008.
One of the main lines of action is the development, monitoring, and control of tourism laws.
Since the entry into force of the General Law on Tourist Accommodation dated June 30, 1998, and with the application of the regulations that develop it on 8 November 2000, the Department of Tourism manages the classification of tourist accommodation in Andorra.
This regulation has allowed classification of the Principality’s establishment by categories (stars) and has given them the option of achieving a quality level (Q) and special stamps that allow differentiating the wide variety of accommodation offers available Andorra.
On the other hand, in 2013, the Tourist Accommodations Occupation Register (ROAT) was created establishing the obligation to register all the clients of the tourist accommodation establishments.
Another of the main areas of action is the relationship with the different agencies related to tourism, such as the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and the OMT Foundation. Themis, based in the Principality of Andorra, other tourism ministries and official Organisms.
At the same time, work is also being carried out on transversal projects with the different departments of the Government and the communes.
