Built-in 1640, the historic Montjuic Castle was initially constructed as a military fortress and has since been converted to a municipal facility by Barcelona government. The Montjuic Castle is filled with history and has remained standing despite being the location for battles and conflicts such as the Catalan Revolt and the Siege of Barcelona– the French Army even seized the castle during the Napoleonic Wars!
