Car Seat: The Cayman Islands Traffic Regulations 2012 states that any child traveling in a motor vehicle must wear a seatbelt or, for those under two, be seated in a car seat attached by a seatbelt. It also states that a rear facing child’s car seat must not be fitted in a seat with a front airbag.

Driving Advice: You are allowed to drive in Cayman using an international driver’s license which is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. You will not have to obtain a Visitors’ Permit. If you have a domestic driver’s license from abroad and are using a privately owned borrowed vehicle, then you do not need to obtain the Visitor’s Permit from the DVDL office.

Power: On the Cayman Islands the standard voltage is 120 V and the frequency is 60 Hz. You can use your electric appliances on the Cayman Islands, if the standard voltage in your country is in between 110 – 127 V (as is in the US, Canada and most South American countries).

Local Transportation: With its flat terrain and always stunning views of the sea, Grand Cayman is a pleasure for cyclists. Renting a scooter will enable you to easily access the far reaches of the island. Many hotels have bikes available to guests; or you can rent from Cayman Auto Rentals.

The George Town bus depot serves as the dispatch point for color-coded minibuses to all districts of Grand Cayman. Buses run every day from 6am to 11pm and to 1am on Friday.

Agencies on the island include Andy’s Rent-a-Car, Avis, Budget and Economy. Visitors must obtain a temporary driver’s license from their car-rental agency
