Alcatraz Island, San Francisco, CA 94123

Alcatraz Island may not be suitable for smaller children, but older ones interested in the history of San Francisco shouldn’t miss this destination. Families can visit the complex and choose from a variety of tours, like Early Bird, Day, or Night, using an audio tour narrated by former inmates and prison guards. Children will be enthralled in the narrative, and the ability to see the remnants of the old Alcatraz will fascinate parents as well. Since Alcatraz is technically a national park, it also offers a Junior Ranger Program, which provides children with an activity booklet to keep them more engaged.
