This expansive aquarium opened its doors in 1998 and has served as an integral component of ecological education in Lisbon and beyond. It served as the centerpiece of the XXth Century’s last World Fair, themed “The Oceans, a Heritage for the Future”, and eternally binds Lisbon to the Oceans. There are tours and activities geared towards kids which teach them about the wonders of marine life as well as how we can all work together to preserve our oceans for the future!
