The Pitons, Soufriere, St. Lucia
Towering above the St. Lucia sea, these volcanic plugs are the island’s most iconic sight. The Pitons are situated between the towns of Soufrière and Choiseul, and consist of two parts: Gros Piton and Petit Piton. Both are visible from almost anywhere in the Southwest, but to get as close as possible, we recommend you take a hike. A Gros Piton Tour is the only way you can get to the vantage point of Gros Piton, rewarding you with stunning views of the Carribean as a result. Petit Piton is extremely steep and isn’t technically sanctioned by the government, so Gros is a much better option, especially when traveling with family. Kids will appreciate the adrenaline rush that accompanies this adventure, and the guides do an excellent job at making the history of the Pitons as engaging and interactive as possible. Beginning at your pickup location, you’ll start your day in the town of Fond Gens Libre, and then proceed to the trail. Just be sure to allot a day to take everything in, and wear some comfortable shoes, because the excursion can last up to 6 hours.
