Our Family Vacation in Rome

By Sylvia Salazar

We recently spent time in Rome with our family – 7 people in all. We had a great visit and were able to take advantage of some tour guides who really enhanced the experience for us and our children. I hope my recap will help you in planning your trip!

Where to Stay:

We chose to stay in an Airbnb to get the most space for our group. It was 1 ½ blocks from the Vatican entrance and hosted up to 9 people. The hosts were really nice, the apartment was clean and it was in a good area and reasonably priced.

Tips and Advice:

We used Mary Roma taxi transfers from the airport and in the mornings. They were always on time and had great staff. Uber was also convenient during the day when we were tired of walking.

Favorite Restaurant:

Ristorante dei Musei is a must visit! It’s very close to the Vatican entrance. We got to spend Easter Sunday with them and they treated us like family. If you read their reviews online you will see many others saying great things about the owners.

Favorite Activities:

  • Rome Tours with kids by Maria and her team: This is the best tour company for kids. Maria was amazing and so good with the children. They learned so much! They also had someone who gave us a tour in Florence. It was worth every dime.
  • Benedetta Bianchini: We hired her to be our tour guide for food travel. She has cooking classes but we did not have time to go. She was very cheerful and I definitely recommend her.

Rome is an amazing place to explore with children and I highly recommend it. Let me know some of your favorite activities in the city below!
